LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Three members of the Shepherd University softball team have earned PSAC All-Conference honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington), senior third baseman
Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Trevecca Nazarene), and sophomore catcher
Madelyn Chambers (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) gained first team honors. Additionally, Ruffner was named PSAC East Pitcher of the Year.
Ruffner has put together an exemplary season in the circle for the Rams, posting an .083 ERA in 135.1 innings pitched. She struck out 261 batters, tallied 16 wins, and also posted a pair of saves. Her 61 hits allowed is the lowest total in the PSAC, as is her .130 batting-average-against. Ruffner was a four-time PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honoree this season.
Moore tops the Rams with a .416 batting average with a team-best 62 hits in 149 at-bats. She has driven in a team-best 40 runs and scored 24. She tops the team in doubles (16) and home runs (7). Moore was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week for April 7.
Chambers has a .371 batting average with 52 hits in 140 at-bats. She has driven in 17 runs and scored a team-best 35. She tops the team with six triples and adds eight doubles. Chambers is also one of the team's leading base-stealing threats with six steals in seven attempts.
