Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls to #11 East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Ariana Tucci scored seven goals to lead #11 East Stroudsburg (8-4, 5-2 PSAC East) to a 17-14 win over Shepherd (4-7, 1-6 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.

Senior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) scored four goals to pace the Rams. Sophomore midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) added three goals and an assist. Senior attacker Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) added two goals and four assists, while junior attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) had two goals and an assist.

Freshman midfielder Grace Lyon (Port Tobacco, Md./McDonough) added a goal and two assists, while junior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) and freshman midfielder Katherine Stevenson (Middletown, Md./Middletown) each tallied a goal.  Lyon added a team-high six draw controls.

Senior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) paced the Shepherd defense with five ground balls, five draw controls, and five caused turnovers.

Sadie Kaufman added six goals and two assists for the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg had a 9-8 lead at halftime behind three first-half goals from Kauffman.

The Warriors had a 13-12 advantage heading into the final quarter. East Stroudsburg outscored the Rams, 4-2, in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Junior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 10 saves for the Rams. Abby Simonetti (9) and Rachael Zabko (2) Combined to post 11 saves for the Warriors.

East Stroudsburg had a 34-31 advantage in shots and a 25-27 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 13-of-18 in clears and East Stroudsburg was 16-of-19. Shepherd had a 21-18 edge in ground balls and a 15-14 advantage in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Kutztown for a 3 p.m. contest.
