Shepherd Women’s Soccer Downs Mansfield

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore midfielder Anaya Lozano (Chesapeake, Va./Atlantic Shores Christian School) scored six goals and added an assist to lead Shepherd University (3-0-2) to an 18-0 win over Mansfield (0-5-0) in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.

Lozano's six goals broke the previous Shepherd single-game mark of five set by Julia Young against Salem International on Oct. 22, 2007. Lozano's 13 points in a game also established a Shepherd record.

Sophomore forward Merritt Delk (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park/Toledo) added three goals and two assists,  junior midfielder Ella Furlong (Liverpool, England/Wirral Grammar/San Diego State) tallied three goals, while sophomore midfielder Olivia Gardner (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) had two goals and three assists.

Senior forward Lydia Gable (Felton, Pa./Kennard Dale) had a goal and three assists. Junior midfielder Reagan Ackermann (Myersville, Md./Middletown/UNC Wilmington) had a goal and an assist. Senior forward/defender Sofia Carrera (New Market, Md./Oakdale/Towson) and junior midfielder Taylor Schuck (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) each tallied a goal.

Senior midfielder Josie Beezel  (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore) and junior midfielder Natalie Zambrano (Germantown, Md./Northwest/Montgomery College) recorded a pair of assists, while senior midfielder Adrianna Morales (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) and  junior midfielder Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) each had one assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Kendall Wright (Ashland, Va./Hanover) did not record a save in a shutout effort for the Rams. Serenity Esterline (45:00, 9 GA, 11 saves) and Angel Gule (45:00, 9 GA, 7 saves) combined for 18 saves for the Mountaineers.

Shepherd had a 56-0 advantage in shots with a 36-0 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had an 11-0 margin in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 6 p.m. contest.
