The Shepherd University volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Crimson Hawk Classic at Indiana (Pa.) on
Saturday
. The Rams (9-2) recorded a 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23
win over Charleston (5-3) in the early match and dropped a 25-19, 16-25, 25-19, 25-14 against host IUP (8-2) in the later match.
Junior outside hitter
Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) recorded 14 kills to pace the Rams against UC. Freshman outside hitter
Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) added 12 kills
Junior middle hitter/right side
Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) and freshman right side hitter
Emily Ryder (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) each had a match-high five blocks.
Senior libero/defensive specialist
Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty) had 13 digs to lead the Rams. Senior setter
Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) recorded 36 assists.
Sophia Knowles had a match-high 16 kills, and Chloe Fortner had a match-high 15 digs to lead Charleston.
Junior middle hitter
Rylee Lenz (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) and Davis each had eight kills against IUP. Ryan added seven kills and eight blocks.
Buso posted 31 assists, while Faircloth had 13 digs.
Jessica Neiman had 14 kills and Charlotte Potvin added 10 to pace the Crimson Hawks.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Gannon for a 7 p.m. contest.
