SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (1-0, 1-0 PSAC East), ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Preseason Poll, recorded a 2-0 win over Lock Haven (1-1, 0-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore midfielder
Anaya Lozano (Chesapeake, Va./Atlantic Shores Christian School) opened the scoring when she scored on a pass from junior midfielder
Annabelle Wunderlich (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown Area) at the 46:50 mark.
The Rams added an insurance goal at the 59:31 mark when sophomore forward
Merritt Delk (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park/Toledo) scored on a feed from senior midfielder
Josie Beezel (Woodsboro, Md./Linganore).
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper
Hannah Wilt (Saint Leonard, Md./Calvert) recorded three saves in a shutout effort for the Rams. Riley Houck had 10 saves for the Bald Eagles.
Shepherd had a 30-5 edge in shots with a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams had a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a noon contest.
