ETTRICK, Va. –Shepherd University (2-1) dropped a five-set match to Concord (4-0) in volleyball action at the VSU Opening Weekend Invitational at Virginia State on Saturday. The Mountain Lions posted a 25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-13 win.

Freshman outside hitter Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 15 kills and junior middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) added 13 to lead the Rams. McCoy added 16 digs.

Senior libero/defensive specialist Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty) recorded a match-high 27 digs, while senior setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) contributed 41 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore setter Sofia De Los Mozos (Lake Worth, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy/Tusculum) added 15 digs.

Meg Williams and Chloe Thompson each had 14 kills to lead Concord.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to the UC-WV State Crossover to face Point Park at 1 p.m. and West Virginia State at 7 p.m.
