Shepherd Men Fall at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Day Waters scored a team-high 21 points to lead Millersville (11-5, 6-3 PSAC East) to a 69-60 win over Shepherd (8-6, 5-4 PSAC) in PSAC East men's basketball action at Millersville on Thursday evening.

Sophomore guard Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Rams. He connected on 9-of-15 field goals with a 3-of-9 effort from three-point range.  He was 2-of-2 from the foul line. 
             
Junior guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. He also added two assists and a pair of steals.

Sophomore forward Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) added 12 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Colton Hartman (St. Thomas, Pa./St. Maria Goretti) grabbed seven boards.

Saraj Ali added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Marauders. Aamir Hurst had 11 points and seven boards.

Millersville had a 37-30 lead at halftime behind 10 first-half points from Waters.

The Marauders opened the second half on a 6-0 run to take a 13-point lead. Shepherd got to within two points twice midway through the second half, but would get no closer.
 
Shepherd connected on 35.9 percent (23-64) of its field goals with a 21.1 percent (4-19) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 63.6 percent (10-14) of their free throws.
 
Millersville shot 38.8 percent (26-67) from the floor with a 26.7 percent (4-15) effort from beyond the arc. The Marauders hit 59.1 percent (13-22) from the foul line.

Shepherd had a 49-39 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced six turnovers and committed 15.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Mansfield for a 3 p.m. contest
