SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman guard
Colby White (Buckingham, Va./Blue Ridge)
scored a game-high 22 points to lead Shepherd (9-7, 5-4 PSAC East) to a 95-67 win over Mansfield (1-15, 0-10 PSAC East) in PSAC East men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday afternoon.
White connected on 8-of-13 field goals with a 6-of-8 effort from three-point range. He added three assists.
Junior guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) added 17 points, six assists, and six rebounds, while sophomore guard
Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) had 15 points, four assists, and four boards.
Sophomore guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) had 14 points, eight boards, and five assists. Sophomore forward
Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) and sophomore forward
Daouda Traore (Silver Spring, Md./Clinton Grace Christian/St. Thomas Aquinas) each added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Darrien Berrios Rivera led the Mountaineers with 21 points. Juju Pagan added 11 points, while Nasir Brown tossed in nine.
Shepherd had a 50-26 lead at halftime as Banks (10) and Traore (12) combined for 22 first-half points.
Shepherd connected on 57.4 percent (39-68) of its field goals with a 53.8 percent (14-26) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 60 percent (3-5) of their free throws.
Mansfield shot 40 percent (24-60) from the floor with a 47.4 percent (9-19) effort from beyond the arc. The Mountaineers hit 71.4 percent (10-14) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 44-24 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced five turnovers and committed six.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to West Chester for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
