Shepherd Women Edged by Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. –  Daniella Ranieli scored a game-high 23 points to lead Millersville (8-7, 4-5) to a 69-63 win over Shepherd (2-11, 0-8) in PSAC East women's basketball action at Millersville on Thursday. 

Sophomore forward Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal)  led the Rams with 18 points. Estridge connected on 8-of-18 shots from the floor with a 1-of-3 effort from beyond the arc. She was 1-of-1 from the foul line. Estridge added two rebounds. 

Junior guard Samiyah Nasir (Gwynn Oak, Md./Howard College of Saint Rose) tossed in nine points and grabbed four boards. Freshman forward Summer Shackelford (Amissville, Va./Highland School) added eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while freshman forward Vite Kacerauskaite (Waldorf, Md./Saint Mary's) tossed in eight points.

Bryn Zentner added 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Marauders. Kelly Cleaver had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The game included nine lead changes and four ties. The Marauders took the lead for good at 49-48 on a three-point play by Zentner with 6:54 left in the game.

Shepherd connected on 28.2 percent (20-71) of its field goals with a 19 percent effort (4-21) from three-point range. The Rams hit 86.4 percent (19-22) of their free throws.

Millersville had a 37.9 percent (22-58) field goal percentage with a 29.4 percent (5-17) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Marauders hit 71.4 percent (20-28) from the foul line. 

Millersville had a 51-38 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 24 turnovers and committed 15.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Mansfield for a 1 p.m. contest.
