CLARION, Pa. – Kendall Berger scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Clarion (7-4, 2-3) to an 81-74 win over Shepherd (2-7, 0-5) in PSAC women's basketball action at Clarion on Friday.
Sophomore forward Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) led the Rams with 21 points. Estridge connected on 9-of-18 shots from the floor with a 1-of-3 effort from beyond the arc. She was 2-of-4 from the foul line. She added seven rebounds and two steals.
Junior guard Grace Middleton (Leesburg, Va./Tuscarora Frostburg State) added 17 points with four boards and four steals. Junior guard Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick) tossed in 11 points, while junior guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) contributed nine points, a game-high six assists, and three rebounds.
Arianna Seitz had 19 points and four rebounds for the Golden Eagles. Niah Smedley tossed in 10 points and seven boards.
Shepherd connected on 35.5 percent (27-76) of its field goals with a 25 percent effort (6-24) from three-point range. The Rams hit 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws.
Clarion had a 44.1 percent (26-59) field goal percentage with a 35.3 percent (6-17) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Golden Eagles hit 67.6 percent (23-34) from the foul line.
The Golden Eagles had a 47-41 advantage on the boards. Shepherd forced 31 turnovers and committed 23.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown for a 1 p.m. contest.
