Shepherd Men Down Lock Haven for Fourth Straight Win

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) scored a team-high 24 points lead Shepherd (8-5, 5-2 PSAC) to a 96-75 win over Lock Haven (3-8, 1-5 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday night. The Rams ran their win streak to four games.

Banks connected on 8-of-13 field goals with a 2-of-4 effort from three-point range.  He was 6-of-9 from the foul line. Banks added seven boards, six assists, and three steals.

Sophomore forward Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) added a career-high 22 points and sophomore forward Daouda Traore (Silver Spring, Md./Clinton Grace Christian/St. Thomas Aquinas) also recorded a career-high effort with 16 points.

Sophomore guard Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 14 points and eight boards, while sophomore guard Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added 13 points and four assists.

Dena Coleman-Newsome had a game-high 29 points for the Bald Eagles. Dyllon Scot had 14 points, while Devon Nelson added 13.

Shepherd had a 49-34 lead at the break.
 
Shepherd connected on 65.5 percent (38-58) of its field goals with a 38.1 percent (8-21) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 52.2 percent (12-23) of their free throws.
 
Lock Haven shot 48.3 percent (29-60) from the floor with a 26.3 percent (5-19) effort from beyond the arc. The Bald Eagles hit 75 percent (12-16) from the foul line.

Shepherd had a 33-26 rebounding edge. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed seven.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 3 p.m. contest.
