SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Cassidy Rhodes (Point of Rocks, Md./Brunswick) had a career-high 19 points to lead Shepherd (8-13, 6-10) to a 79-54 victory over Millersville (13-11, 8-9) in PSAC East women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Wednesday. The Rams have won three straight games and five of their last six contests.
Rhodes connected on 7-of-13 shots from the floor with a 5-of-10 effort from beyond the arc. She added four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Sophomore forward Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) and junior forward Jenna Liska (Eldersburg, Md. Liberty Frostburg State) each had 15 points. Estridge added a team-high nine boards and two steals, while Liska had eight rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) contributed 14 points, six assists, and five boards.
Daniella Ranieli added a team-high 14 points for the Marauders. Morgan Mahoney had nine points and four rebounds. Kelly Cleaver contributed seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Trailing 33-31 at halftime, the Rams dominated the third quarter as they outscored the Marauders, 23-6, in the quarter to pull away for the win.
Shepherd connected on 40.8 percent (29-71) of its field goals with a 40.7 percent effort (11-27) from three-point range. The Rams hit 66.7 percent (10-15) of their free throws.
Millersville had a 36.7 percent (22-60) field goal percentage with a 33.3 percent (4-12) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Marauders hit 54.5 percent (6-11) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 45-40 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 21 turnovers and committed 9.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield for a 1 p.m. contest.
