Freshman guard
Colby White (Buckingham, Va./Blue Ridge)
scored a game-high 28 points to lead Shepherd (17-9, 13-6) to an 88-59 win over Kutztown (6-18, 3-16) in PSAC East men's basketball action at Kutztown on Saturday.
White connected on 10-of-15 field goals with an 8-of-13 effort from three-point range. He added five rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
Sophomore guard
Brody Davis (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added 18 points behind a 6-of-10 effort from three-point range. Junior guard
Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) contributed 10 points, seven assists, two rebounds, and a pair of steals, while sophomore guard
Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added 10 points and four assists.
Sophomore forward
Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School) had eight points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Daouda Traore (Silver Spring, Md./Clinton Grace Christian/St. Thomas Aquinas) added seven points and nine boards.
Jordan Nkoa Abessolo led the Golden Bears with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jalen Bryant added 15 points and five rebounds.
Shepherd shot 50 percent from the floor (17-34) in the first half to take a 42-23 lead at halftime. White led the Rams with 16 first-half points.
Shepherd connected on 48.5 percent (33-68) of its field goals with a 56.7 percent (17-30) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 88.3 percent (5-6) of their free throws.
Kutztown shot 37.9 percent (33-68) from the floor with a 26.7 percent (4-15) effort from beyond the arc. The Golden Bears hit 45.5 percent (5-11) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 48-34 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed eight.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for an 8 p.m. contest.
