Shepherd Men Rally Past Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior guard Marcus Banks (Clinton, Md./Riverdale Baptist) and sophomore forward Favor Okigweh (Edgewood, Md./Parkville/The Winchedon School)  each scored 14 points to lead Shepherd (18-9, 14-6) to a 54-51 win over Shippensburg (13-14, 8-12) in PSAC East men's basketball action at Shippensburg on Wednesday night.

Banks hit on 6-of-15 field goals with a 2-of-2 effort from the foul line. He added nine boards, three steals, and two assists.

Okigweh hit 7-of-14 field goals and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Elwyne Wordlaw (Frederick, Md./Frederick) added 10 points, while sophomore forward Daouda Traore (Silver Spring, Md./Clinton Grace Christian/St. Thomas Aquinas) had 10 rebounds.

Jaydon Smith and Timmy Conner each had 10 points to lead the Raiders. Denzel Figueroa added six points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
 
Shippensburg had a 32 -18 lead at halftime.
 
Rebounding from a 20 percent field goal percentage (7-35) in the first half, the Rams rallied past Shippensburg with a 51.72 second-half field goal percentage (15-29).
 
Shepherd connected on 34.4 percent (22-64) of its field goals with a 17.4 percent (4-23) performance from three-point range for the game. The Rams drained 85.7 percent (6-7) of their free throws.
 
Shippensburg shot 36.1 percent (22-61) from the floor with a 15.8 percent (3-19) effort from beyond the arc. The Raiders hit 80 percent (4-5) from the foul line.
 
Shepherd had a 44-38 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced seven turnovers and committed eight.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
