Shepherd Women Upset East Stroudsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Sophomore guard Trinity Turner (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) scored a career-high 22 points to lead Shepherd (7-13, 5-10 PSAC East) to a 74-68 upset win over East Stroudsburg (14-9, 9-7 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams have won four of their last five games.

Turner connected on 8-of-11 shots from the floor with a 3-of-3 effort from beyond the arc and connected on 3-of-7 free throws. Turner added four rebounds and two steals. 

Junior guard Kara Wehner (Staten Island, N.Y./Xaverian) added 15 points,  a career-high nine assists, tied a career-high seven boards, and three steals. Sophomore forward Lamaria Estridge (Walkersville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) and Freshman forward Vilte Kacerauskaite (Waldorf, Md./Saint Mary's) each contributed 10 points. Estridge added a team-high nine rebounds, while Kacerauskaite added three. 

Brie Droege had 26 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors. Avery White contributed 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. 

Shepherd connected on 45.5 percent (30-66) of its field goals with a 40.9 percent effort (9-22) from three-point range. The Rams hit 55.6 percent (5-9) of their free throws.

East Stroudsburg had a 40.8 percent (29-71) field goal percentage with a 35.3 percent (6-17) effort from beyond the arc for the game. The Warriors hit 44.4 percent (4-9) from the foul line. 

The Warriors had a 47-36 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed 10.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Millersville for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
