Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – Neila Haney scored seven goals and added three assists to lead Frostburg State (3-1) to a 17-7 win over Shepherd (1-3) in women's lacrosse action at Frostburg State on Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder Grace Lyon (Ocean City, Md./McDonough) scored three goals to lead the Rams. Lyon added eight draw controls and four ground balls.
Senior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), junior midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior), sophomore midfielder Katherine Stevenson (Middletown, Md./Middletown), and sophomore midfielder Britney Warner (Hughesville, Md./La Plata) each added single tallies.

Senior attacker Rebekah Forney (Adamstown, Md./Mount De Sales) and freshman attacker Hadley Robertson (New Market, Md./Linganore) each recorded an assist.

Junior defender Luetta Seipp (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had four ground balls and caused turnovers, while sophomore defender Emily Meyer (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) had a caused turnover and four ground balls to lead the defense for the Rams.

Avery O'Hara added three goals and three assists for the Bobcats.             
 
Frostburg State had a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and took a 9-3 lead into halftime. Haney had four first-half goals for the Bobcats.

Freshman netminder Bailey Terry (Rockville, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) (4 saves, 7 GA, 17:31) and senior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) (6 saves, 10 GA, 42:29) combined to record 10 saves for the Rams. Liz Amos (6 saves, 5 GA, 45:00) and Kiera Pieper (3 saves, 2 GA, 15:00)  posted nine saves for the Bobcats.

Frostburg State had a 38-22 advantage in shots with a 23-15 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 19-of-23 in clears, and Frostburg State was 16-of-22. The Bobcats had a 29-18 advantage in ground balls. Frostburg State had a 15-10 edge in draw controls. Each team had 23 turnovers.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Belmont Abbey for a 10 a.m. contest.
