Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. – Emerson Sheyda scored three goals and added an assist to lead Belmont Abbey (4-3) to a 14-5 win over Shepherd (1-3) in women's lacrosse action at Belmont Abbey on Saturday.

Senior attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) led the Rams with a pair of goals. Sophomore midfielder Britney Warner (Hughesville, Md./La Plata) and freshman attacker/midfielder Rebekah Stotler (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) each added a goal and an assist, while sophomore midfielder Katherine Stevenson (Middletown, Md./Middletown) netted a goal.

Senior attacker Madison Peacher (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and junior midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) each added an assist.

Sophomore midfielder Grace Lyon (Ocean City, Md./McDonough) paced the team with eight draw controls.

Junior defender Luetta Seipp (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) had four ground balls and one caused turnover, while sophomore defender Emily Meyer (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) had two caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls to lead the defense for the Rams.

Addyson Greenspan and Abbey McCarthy each had a pair of goals for Belmont Abbey. 
      
Freshman netminder Bailey Terry (Rockville, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) (2 saves, 10 GA, 45:19) and senior goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) (2 saves, 4 GA, 14:41) combined to record four saves for the Rams. Summer Eddinger posted 11 saves for the Crusaders.

Shots were even at 22-all with Shepherd holding a 12-8 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd was 16-of-20 in clears, and Belmont Abbey was 17-of-19. The Crusaders had a 20-17 advantage in ground balls, while Shepherd had a 15-7 edge in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
