EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University (14-16, 9-9 PSAC East) dropped a doubleheader to East Stroudsburg (23-13, 11-7 PSAC East) in PSAC East softball action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday. East Stroudsburg gained a 9-0 win in game one and added a 1-0 win in the nightcap.
Clinging to a 1-0 lead, East Stroudsburg plated four runs in the second inning in game one to take a 5-0 advantage.
The Warriors added four runs in the fourth as Delaney Ridgell, Megan Chroniger, and Katie Master each drove in a run.
Ridgell went 3-for-3 to lead an 11-hit attack for the Warriors.
Sarah Davenport (7.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 12 K, 0 BB) (13-6) tossed a no-hitter to earn the win. Senior pitcher Natalee Harvey (St. Albans, Vt./Missisquoi Valley Union/Kutztown) (2.0 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) (5-6) took the loss.
East Stroudsburg scored the game's only run in the sixth in the nightcap as Tulana Mingin led off with a single and scored on a double by Maddin Grow.
Junior catcher Madelyn Chambers (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) went 2-for-3 to lead the Rams.
Grow and Kelsey Proepper each had a pair of hits for the Warriors.
Davenport (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 8 K, 1 BB) earned the win in the nightcap. Junior pitcher Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (7.0 IP, 10 H, 5 ER, 14 K, 1 BB) (7-7) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Kutztown for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
