Shepherd Volleyball Moves to 4-0 at Ram Rumble

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The Shepherd University volleyball team added a pair of wins at the Ram Rumble on Saturday at the Butcher Center. The Rams gained a 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 win in the early match against Chestnut Hill and added a 25-13, 25-13, 25-15 win over Frostburg State in the later match.

Sophomore outside hitter Mikayla Riehl (Birdsboro, Pa./Twin Valley) had 14 kills and senior middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) added eight to pace the Rams against Chestnut Hill.

Junior setter Maggie Smith (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland/Loyola) contributed 31 assists and eight digs. Freshman libero/defensive specialist Alexa Smith (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) had a match-high 12 digs.

Cass Kimmel had 11 kills and seven digs to lead the Griffins.

Riehl had 12 kills in the win over Frostburg State. She also added 12 digs and four aces. Sophomore right side Emily Ryder (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg) added eight kills.

Smiith had 15 assists and freshman libero Aubrey Parker (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) had 14. Freshman outside hitter defensive specialist Vitoria Villa (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) recorded 10 digs.

Aliyah McNair had eight kills and Maya Johnson added seven for the Bobcats. Miranda Ball recorded 13 digs.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Charleston to face Charleston at 1 p.m. and Concord at 4 p.m.
