Shepherd Volleyball Wins Pair at UC/WVSU Crossover

CHARLESTON, W.Va. --  The Shepherd University volleyball team (6-0) added a pair of wins at the UC/WVSU Crossover on Friday. The Rams gained a 25-20, 25-20, 25-27 win in the early match against Charleston (2-3) and added a 25-22, 23-25, 32-30, 25-20 victory over Concord (3-4) in the later match.

Senior middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) had 10 kills and senior outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) added eight to lead the Rams against Charleston.

Junior setter Maggie Smith (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland/Loyola) contributed 29 assists and 10 digs. Freshman libero/defensive specialist Alexa Smith (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) had a match-high 11 digs, while senior middle hitter Rylee Lenz (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) topped the team with three block solos.

Divine Muo had seven kills and five blocks to pace the Golden Eagles.

Sophomore outside hitter Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) posted 24 kills with a .442 attack percentage to lead the Rams against Concord. McCoy also added 15 digs and three aces. Davis added 16 kills and nine digs, while Ryan had 11 kills and four blocks.

Maggie Smith had 54 assists and eight digs, while Alexa Smith had a match-best 25 digs.

Meg Williams had 21 kills and 16 digs to lead the Mountain Lions.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to West Virginia State for a 3 p.m. match.
