SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Shepherd recorded its third consecutive win and second straight shutout with a 6-0 victory over Lackawanna in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday.
Shepherd got on the board early when senior midfielder
Reagan Ackermann (Myersville, Md./Middletown/UNC Wilmington) scored in the fifth minute off an assist from sophomore defender
Gracie Boritz (Linthicum, Md./North County/Shippensburg) to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
The Rams made it 2-0 in the 21st minute when junior midfielder
Olivia Gardner (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) found the back of the net. Shepherd added another goal in the 34th minute as freshman forward
Merritt Delk (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park/Toledo) scored on a pass from Gardner to send the Rams into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, sophomore defender/midfielder
Aniyah Parker (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) scored in the 57th minute to extend the lead to 4-0. Just over two minutes later, Delk scored her second goal of the match to put Shepherd ahead 5-0.
The Rams recorded their sixth goal in the 85th minute when sophomore forward
Ella Morningstar (Vienna, Va./Paul VI) scored off an assist from redshirt sophomore
Morgen Smith (Clarksburg, Md./Poolesville/Radford).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kendall Wright (Ashland, Va./Hanover) did not record a save in a shutout effort for the Rams. Sophia Arvelo recorded 10 saves for the Falcons.
Shepherd had a 38-0 edge in shots with a 12-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Rams had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Millersville for a 7 p.m. matchup.
