Rob Ambrose

Rob Ambrose enters his first season as offensive coordinator for the Rams.

The Middletown, Md. native comes to Shepherd after serving as an analyst at the University of Maryland. He brings an impressive resume to Shepherdstown highlighted by a 14-year head coaching stint from 2009-22 at Towson University. He led the Tigers to three FCS postseason appearances including a trip to the national championship game in 2013. Ambrose was named as the Top FCS Coach of the Year in 2011 when he led the Tigers to a 9-3 mark.

Ambrose had a successful seven-year stint (2002-08) as an assistant coach at UConn. He played a major role in the development of quarterback Dan Orlovsky and also coached 2008 Big East Offensive Player of the Year Donald Brown. Brown rushed 367 times for 2,083 yards and was an NFL first round draft choice.

He served as head coach at Catholic University for the 2001 season and led the Cardinals to a 3-7 mark.

Ambrose previously spent nine years as an assistant at Towson from 1992-2000.  He started as a student assistant and moved to wide receivers coach. He was later named offensive coordinator and associate head coach. Ambrose coached four All-Americans, including running back Tony Vinson, a fifth round draft choice of the San Diego Chargers.

Ambrose, a 1993 Towson graduate, began his football career for the Tigers at quarterback before moving to wide receiver.
