ATHENS, W.Va. -- Freshman defender Katherine Eddy (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) scored a pair of goals to lift Shepherd University (5-5-6, 5-4-6 MEC) to a 4-2 win over Concord (10-7-0, 8-7-0 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Concord on Wednesday afternoon.
Concord took a 1-0 lead at the 6:48 mark when Delaney Crumblish scored on assists from Yasmon Mosby and Courtney Wallace off a corner kick.
The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 advantage when Mira Kontio scored on an assist from Wallace at the 34:21 mark.
Sophomore forward Becca Colbert (Shepherdstown, W.Va./Jefferson) scored on a pass from senior defender Bri Gorman (Clarksburg, Md./Urbana) at the 43:17 mark to cut the lead to 2-1.
Eddy scored an unassisted goal at the 49:15 mark and added another at the 64:37 mark to give the Rams a 3-2 advantage.
Senior forward Samantha Leonard (Conowingo, Md./Perryville/Wingate) scored on a penalty kick at the 66:39 mark to complete the scoring.
Senior netminder Christi LaBella (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) recorded four saves for the Rams. Alyssa Maher had six saves for the Mountain Lions.
Concord had a 14-12 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to the University of Charleston for 1 p.m. match.
