SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had four goals and four assists and sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) added four goals and three assists to lead Shepherd (2-3) to a 17-11 win over Chestnut Hill (1-3) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday.
Funke also added a match-high seven draw controls.
Freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) netted three goals, while junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) added a pair and five draw controls. Sophomore attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and an assist, while freshman defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) and freshman midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) each added a goal. Junior attacker Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) notched an assist.
Julia Reinert had four goals and two assist to pace the Griffins. Spencer Fitzgerald added three goals and an assist, while Dai Pearson netted three goals.
Shepherd had a 6-4 lead at halftime.
Shepherd held a 38-29 edge in shots and had a 21-9 advantage in draw controls. The Griffins held a 29-26 edge in ground balls. Shepherd was 17-of-23 in clears, while Chestnut Hill was 19-of-29.
Freshman goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded nine saves for the Rams. Valeria Amaya had 13 saves for the Griffins.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Wilmington (Del.) for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
