WILMINGTON, Del. – Junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had three goals and an assist and junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) added three goals to lead Shepherd (3-3) to an 18-8 win over Wilmington (3-5) in women's lacrosse action at Wilmington on Tuesday.
Funke also added five draw controls, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls.
Sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) added two goals and three assists, while junior attacker Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) had two goals and an assist.
Freshman defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) netted a pair of goals. Junior attacker Megan Dusci Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC), freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century), freshman midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), freshman midfielder Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill), freshman defender Juliana Barco (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill), and freshman attacker Haleigh Piccolo (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) all added single tallies, while sophomore attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) posted two assists.
Taylor Lambeth, Lashay Ross, and Brooke Siebert each scored two goals for Wilmington.
Shepherd had a 12-5 lead at halftime.
Shepherd held a 38-19 edge in shots, while draw controls were even at 14-14. The Rams held a 24-19 edge in ground balls. Shepherd was 20-of-24 in clears, while Wilmington was 16-of-22.
Freshman goalkeepers Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (5 saves) and Jordan Hardesty (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) (2) combined for seven saves for the Rams. Tori Grubowski (3) and Maddie Hum (11) teamed for 14 saves for the Wildcats.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Wheeling Jesuit for a 4 p.m. contest.
