CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Shepherd University volleyball team (10-0) gained a pair of wins at the Lee Invitational on Friday. The Rams gained a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) win over Emmanuel (2-2) in an early match and added a 3-0 (25-16,25-18, 25-12) triumph over Concord (1-7) in a later match.
Senior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) had 12 kills and senior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) added nine to lead the Rams against Emmanuel.
Senior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) recorded 16 digs, while and freshman middle blocker Elyssia Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) led the team with six blocks. Junior setter Jessica Karcz (Westminster, Md./Westminster) had a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs.
Mia McKensey had eight kills to lead Emmanuel.
Lindblad had 14 kills and freshman outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) added 10 for the Rams against Concord. Major posted a match-high 17 digs.
Karcz contributed 39 assists and 10 digs, while junior middle hitter Nicole Murray (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) topped the team with seven blocks.
Shepherd had a .430 attack percentage for the match.
Kristi Pouncy had seven kills to lead the Mountain Lions. Lindsay Maddox added 14 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they complete invitational play against Concord at 10 a.m. and host Lee at 3 p.m.
