AMERICUS, Ga. – Shepherd (2-3) dropped a doubleheader with Georgia Southwestern State (3-6) in baseball action at Georgia Southwestern State on Saturday. Georgia Southwestern State gained a 20-1 win in game one and added a 4-2 win in the nightcap. 

The Canes took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the nightcap as Reid Ragsdale tripled and later scored on a ground out by Anthony Angelino. 

Shepherd tied the game in the second as sophomore outfielder Corey Jamison (Williamsport, Md./Williamsport) walked and scored on a triple off the bat of junior outfielder Sam Daggers (Galloway, N.J./Absegami/Rowan Gloucester CC). 

The Rams took a 2-1 lead in the sixth as junior infielder Cole Daugherty (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) singled and later scored on a balk. 

Georgia Southwestern State rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to grab the win. John Austin Sutton hit a two-run single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Foster to key the rally. 

Nick McCollum (6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 9 K, 1 BB) (2-1) picked up the win for the Canes. Kyle Bachle (3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 8 K, 1 BB) notched the save. Senior pitcher Nick Trabacchi (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West/UMBC) (5.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 4 K, 3 BB) (1-1) took the loss for the Rams. \

Gregory Wozniak went 4-for-7 with four runs batted in and three runs scored to pace a 17-hit attack for Georgia Southwestern State in game one. He had a pair of doubles and a two-run blast. 

Graduate student infielder Joey Schwartz (Smithsburg, Md./Smithsburg/Western Kentucky) belted a solo homer in the fourth for Shepherd's only run. Schwartz led the Rams with a 2-for-2 effort. 

Jared Donalson (6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 10 K, 1 BB) (1-1) earned the win for the Canes. Jacob McClure (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0R, 6 K, 0 BB) earned the save. Graduate student pitcher Austin Crebs (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Central Catholic/Fairleigh Dickinson) (2.1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 2 K, 2 BB) (1-1) took the loss. 

The two teams return to action on Sunday for a noon contest.
