SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) scored three goals and graduate student attack Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) added a goal and five assists to lead Shepherd (2-1) to an 11-9 win over Frostburg State (0-4) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) netted a pair of goals for the Rams. Senior attack Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill), senior midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), sophomore midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), sophomore midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion), and freshman midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) each tallied a goal. Stoner led the Shepherd defense with six caused turnovers.
Anna Kearney led the Bobcats with three goals. Cameron Baldwin and Stephanie King each netted a pair of goals. Baldwin added a match-high six draw controls.
Shepherd had a 7-5 lead at the half.
Senior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded five saves for the Rams. Nicole Gray recorded 12 saves for Frostburg State.
Shepherd had a 27-25 advantage in shots. The Bobcats were 21-of-26 in clears, while Shepherd was 15-of-21. Both teams had 12 draw controls. Frostburg State had a 23-21 edge in ground balls.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Wilmington for a 3 p,m. contest.
