BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Shepherd University (10-12, 3-1 PSAC East) rapped 30 hits on the day en route to a doubleheader sweep over Bloomsburg (14-12, 0-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East softball action at Bloomsburg. Shepherd recorded a 13-2 win in game one and added a 12-7 victory in the nightcap. 
Shepherd took a 5-0 lead in game one in the first inning with a two-run double by junior outfielder Hannah Beeler.(Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) highlighting the rally. 
Bloomsburg got a solo homer from Nicollette Ray in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to 5-1. 
Shepherd added a run in the second on an RBI-single by junior catcher  Alex Mantz (Edinburg, Va./Central). 
The Rams scored three runs in the third. Senior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) had an RBI-triple, junior designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke) had an RBI-double, and graduate student infielder Leann Brown (Hume, Va./Fauquier) added an RBI-single. 
The Huskies added a run in the third as Sammi Starr drove in a run on a ground out. 
Shepherd added four runs in the fifth with a two-run homer by Davis highlighting the rally. 
Purtell went 3-for-4 with four runs scored to lead the Rams. 
Sophomore pitcher Kourtney McNatt (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink/WV Tech) (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) (2-3) gained the win for the Rams. Callie Sowers (3.1 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 5 ER, 7 K, 3 BB) (8-4) took the loss for the Huskies. 
Davis and Purtell each went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of runs batted in to pace a 16-hit attack for the Rams in the nightcap. Davis smacked her team-leading sixth home run in the sixth with a solo blast. 
Sophomore catcher Olivia Reese (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) added a pair of hits, including a three-run triple. 
Starr went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three RBI to pace the Huskies.            
Junior pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) (5.0 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 0 K, 2 BB) (6-3) gained the win. Kelly Eberly (1.0 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) took the loss for Bloomsburg. 
The Rams are slated to return to action on Saturday when they travel to East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
