Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Bloomsburg in PSAC East Opener

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Madison Coyle scored four goals to lead Bloomsburg (5-0, 1-0 PSAC East) to a 15-8 win over Shepherd University (2-3, 0-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at Bloomsburg on Wednesday.

Junior midfielder Katie Paredes (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) and junior attacker Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) each netted a pair of goals to lead the Rams. Freshman midfielder Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) added a goal and an assist.

Senior midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), sophomore attacker Rebekah Forney (Walkersville, Md./Mount De Sales), and sophomore defender Paige Sullivan (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre De Grace) each tallied a goal. Stoner also added four draw controls, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers.

Senior attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and sophomore attacker Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century) each recorded an assist.

Junior defender Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus) led the team with four ground balls and tied Stoner with a team-high three caused turnovers.

Tori Bruno added two goals and three assists for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg had a 5-3 lead at halftime. Shepherd trailed by just two goals at 9-7 at the end of three quarters, but Bloomsburg outscored Shepherd, 6-1, in the final quarter to pull away for the win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded nine saves for the Rams. Lauren Foley posted six saves for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg had a 37-20 advantage in shots with a 24-24 advantage in shots on goal. Shepherd was 18-of-27 in clears, while Bloomsburg was 13-of-17. Bloomsburg had a 28-20 edge in ground balls. Shepherd forced 25 turnovers and committed 25. The Huskies had a 20-7 advantage in draw controls.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host #17 Kutztown for a 1 p.m. contest.
