EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Emily Mitorotonda scored nine goals to lead #11 East Stroudsburg (9-4, 5-3 PSAC East) to a 14-7 win over Shepherd University (5-8, 3-6 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's lacrosse action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
Junior attacker
Kelsey King (Fallston, Md./Concordia Prep) scored three goals to lead the Rams. She now has 40 goals on the season.
Junior defender
Sydney Witmer (Damascus, Md./Damascus), sophomore attacker
Holly Poe (Sykesville, Md./Century), and freshman midfielder
Aubrey Harrison (Fairmont, W.Va./Fairmont Senior) each netted a goal. Witmer's goal was the first in her career.
Senior midfielder
Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) added a team-high five draw controls.
Hannah Schiemer added two goals for the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg held a 6-1 lead at halftime.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Destiny Rockwell (Glengary, W.Va./Musselman) recorded 14 saves for the Rams. Abby Simonetti (56:54 4 GA, 14 saves) and Bella Gismondi (3:06, 0 GA, 0 saves) teamed to post 14 saves for the Warriors.
East Stroudsburg had a 34-25 advantage in shots with a 28-21 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd and East Stroudsburg were 20-of-26 in clears. East Stroudsburg had a 39-25 advantage in ground balls. Shepherd forced 26 turnovers and committed 27. The Warriors held a 16-9 advantage in draw controls.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Shippensburg for a 3 p.m. contest.
