SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (22-26, 12-18 PSAC East) dropped a doubleheader to Millersville (26-21, 17-13 PSAC East) in PSAC East softball action at Sara Cree Field on Friday. Millersville gained a 13-4 win in game one and added a 4-1 win in the nightcap.
 
Millersville took a 1-0 lead in the second inning in game one on an RBI-single by Taylor Campagna.
 
The Marauders added four runs in the third to take a 5-0 advantage. Gabby D'Ottavio hit a two-run double to key the rally.
 
Shepherd cut the lead to 5-2 in the fifth as senior outfielder Olivia Reese (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and junior third baseman Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Trevecca Nazarene) each had run-scoring singles.
 
The Rams added two runs in the sixth on a solo homer by freshman first baseman Brenna Collis (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and an RBI-double by senior outfielder Isabella Forte (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville).
 
The Marauders scored eight runs in the seventh to get the win. Kendra Baumgardner had a three-run double to key the scoring.
 
Forte went 3-for-3 to lead the Rams.
 
Alex Schaefer (5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 7 K, 3 BB) (11-9) gained the win. Senior pitcher Kourtney McNatt (Middletown, Del./Appoquinimink/WV Tech) (2.1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 2 ER, 0 K, 2 BB) (2-2) took the loss.
 
Millersville took a 2-0 lead in the fourth in the nightcap on an RBI-double from M Schreiner and a run-scoring single by V Fuss.
 
The Marauders added two runs in the fifth on an RBI-double by D'Ottavio and an RBI ground out by Carly Vaughan.

Shepherd scored a run in the fifth on an RBI-single by Reese.
 
Morgan Crutcher (7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 7 K, 0 BB) (8-10) earned the win. Senior pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick)(4.1 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 2 BB) (2-8) took the loss.
 
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host West Chester for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
