Shepherd Volleyball Sweeps Play in Ram Rumble

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (4-0) won a pair of matches in final day action of the Ram Rumble at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams opened with a 3-0 win over Glenville State (25-8, 25-9, 25-16) in an early match and added a 3-2 triumph over Edinboro (25-22, 18-25, 13-25, 25-21, 15-11) in a later match. Sophomore outside hitter Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) posted a kill and then reeled off six straight service points as the Rams rallied from an 11-8 deficit in the final set.

Senior outside hitter Sydney Babb (Germantown, Md./Northwest/Montgomery College) led the Rams with nine kills against Glenville State. Senior right side Joi Fairweather (Tamarac, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) and sophomore middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, NY./Monroe Woodbury) each added seven.

Junior setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) (13) recorded 23 assists, while junior libero Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty University) topped the Rams with 11 digs and tied Davis with a match-high three aces. Sophomore middle hitter Rylee Lenz (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) recorded a match high six blocks (one solo).

Malerie Ross had six kills and four digs to lead the Pioneers. Isabella Bailey added seven digs and an ace.

Davis had 16 kills and Ryan added 10 for the Rams in the win over Edinboro. Fairweather led the defense with nine blocks (one solo).

Faircloth posted 19 digs and three aces, while Buso contributed 38 assists, 11 digs, and three aces. Senior defensive specialist/libero Harli Zeitz (Lake Worth, Fla./Somerset Academy Canyons) recorded 15 digs and four aces and senior libero/defensive specialist Kierra Anderson (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) added 11 digs.

Makayla Neeland had 17 kills to lead Edinboro. Jessica Hardin added 15 kills and 11 digs while Erika Lundqvist had 13 kills. Carly Pry contributed a match-high 27 digs.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to the Wilmington Tournament to face Holy Family at 11:30 a.m. and Southern New Hampshire at 4:30 pm.

Notes: Amya Davis and Macy Buso were named to the All-Tournament Team for the Rams.
