SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore forward
Josh Petty (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll/Queens University of Charlotte) scored three goals to lead Shepherd University (4-4-0, 1-0-0 PSAC East) to a 3-1 victory over Shippensburg (3-3-1, 0-1-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East men's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 24:05 mark when Petty scored on an assist from sophomore forward
Sterling Harris (Cheltenham, Md./Bishop McNamara).
Shippensburg tied the game at 1-1 at the 31:04 mark on an unassisted goal by Kyle Ganley.
The Rams took a 2-1 lead on an unassisted tally by Petty at the 67:33 mark.
Shepherd completed the scoring on an unassisted goal by Petty at the 68:35 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Aidan Houck (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) posted one save for the Rams. Ryan Krumenacker recorded three saves for the Raiders.
Shepherd had a 14-2 advantage in shots. The Rams had a 6-2 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg for a 3:30 p.m. match.
