WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore defender Aaron Sullivan (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) scored on an assist from freshman midfielder Rylan Hertzog (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) at the 78:24 mark to lift Shepherd University (5-6, 2-2 PSAC East) to a 2-1 win over West Chester (5-4-1, 2-2 PSAC East) in PSAC East men's soccer at West Chester on Saturday.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 11:08 mark on a goal by senior midfielder Justin Langon (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) on a pass by sophomore forward Conner Fedorko (Hagerstown, Md./Clear Spring)
West Chester tied the game 1-1 with a goal by Luke Newman on an assist from Peter Tichy at the 51:20 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Houck (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) posted seven saves for the Rams. Jaden Howard recorded 12 saves for West Chester.
Shepherd had a 20-13 margin in shots and a 14-8 advantage in shots on goal. West Chester had a 7-2 edge on corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for a 3:30 p.m. match.
