SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore forward Josh Petty (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll/Queens University of Charlotte) scored on a penalty kick at the 75:40 mark to lift Shepherd University (6-9, 3-5 PSAC East) to a 4-3 victory over Shippensburg (3-7-4, 0-5-3 PSAC East) in PSAC East men's soccer at Shippensburg on Wednesday.
Shippensburg took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Liam Heitmann assisted by Ethan Omondi at the 20:40 mark.
The Raiders took a 2-0 into the break as Nate Herb scored on an assist by Cameron Henry at the 43:26 mark.
Shepherd got on the board at the 47:34 mark when freshman middle/defender Ron Abarjel (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) scored on an assist from sophomore defender Aaron Sullivan (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run).
The Rams tied the game up at 2-2 at the 49:24 mark with an own goal.
Shippensburg took a 3-2 lead on a penalty kick goal by Ethan Paulukow at the 73:48 mark.
Shepherd tied the game up at 3-3 with a goal from sophomore forward Sterling Harris (Cheltenham, Md./Bishop McNamara) on a pass from junior middle Dylan Shepherd (Fallston, Md./Fallston) at the 74:49 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Houck (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) posted two saves for the Rams. Ryan Krumenacker recorded four saves for the Raiders.
Shepherd had a 19-9 advantage in shots. The Rams had an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. Shepherd had a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host West Chester for a 3:30 p.m. Match.
