FLORENCE, S.C. – Shepherd University (0-5) dropped a doubleheader to UNC Pembroke (6-2) in baseball action at Francis Marion on Friday. The Rams dropped a 4-2 decision in game one and came up short on a 1-0 decision in the nightcap.
UNC Pembroke took a 1-0 lead in the second in game one on as Will Hood led off with a walk and later scored when Ashton Donathan grounded into a double play.
Shepherd took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the fifth. Redshirt senior outfielder
Trey Sine (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) led off with a single, stole second, and later scored on a single by redshirt-senior infielder
Wyatt Miles (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove/Frederick CC). Miles later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of redshirt catcher/first baseman
Wyatt Lamb (Asbury, W.Va./Mt. Calvary Christian School (Pa.)).
The Braves tied the game in the seventh as Hayden Davis tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Blake Hinson.
UNC Pembroke added a pair of runs in the eighth to capture the win. Luis Ramirez was hit-by-pitch and eventually scored on a wild pitch. The Braves added s second run as Landon Lucas was intentionally walked and later scored on an infield single by Ramses Cordova.
Sine went 2-for-4 to pace the Rams.
Cordova led the Braves with a 2-for-4 effort.

The Braves took advantage of four walks in the sixth inning to grab a 1-0 win in a pitcher's duel in the nightcap.

Davis singled for UNC Pembroke's lone hit.
