NUTTER FORT, W.Va. – Shepherd University (3-7) swept Salem University (1-6) in baseball doubleheader action at Frank Loria Field on Monday. Shepherd gained a 5-2 win in game one and added a 6-3 triumph in the nightcap.
Salem took a 1-0 lead in the first inning in game one on an RBI-single by Reese Rinna.
Shepherd plated three runs in the third on a solo blast by junior outfielder
Bodie Pullen (Winchester, Va./James Wood) and a two-run single by redshirt freshman outfielder
Colin Ahart (Pennsauken, N.J./St. Joseph Academy).
The Tigers cut the lead to 3-2 in the sixth as Hunter Rose singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Max Atkinson.
Shepherd answered back with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh as junior catcher
Austin Sofran (Swedesboro, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) reached on a hit-by-pitch and later scored on a double off the bat of sophomore infielder
Nathaniel Brookshire (Winchester, Va./Millbrook). Brookshire scored on a sacrifice fly by Pullen.

Thor Hildebrand (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) (3.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 K, 1 BB) (1-0) gained the win. Redshirt-junior pitcher
Oliver Leonard (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 K, 0 BB) picked up the save. Otho Savage (3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 2 BB) (0-2) took the loss for Salem.
Rinna hit a two-run homer in the first in the nightcap to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.
Shepherd cut the lead to 2-1 in the second on an RBI-double by junior shortstop

After Salem added a run in the third, Shepherd plated a pair as redshirt-sophomore outfielder
Ethan Jones (Oakton, Va./Oakton) belted an RBI-triple and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.
Shepherd took advantage of a hit, an error, two walks, and a balk to score three runs in the seventh and earn the sweep.

The Rams return to action on March 4 when they host West Liberty for a noon doubleheader.
