CLERMONT, Fla. – Shepherd University (2-2) split a pair of games in softball action at The Spring Games on Monday. The Rams grabbed a 3-0 win over Ohio Dominican (6-9) in the early game and dropped an 8-2 decision to Findlay (12-4) in the later game.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Ohio Dominican on a solo homer by senior shortstop

The Rams added two runs in the third as sophomore first baseman
Brenna Collis (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and junior catcher
Camdyn Noland (Summit Point, W.Va./Washington) reached on an error. Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) plated Collis on a single and Noland scored on a bunt by freshman outfielder
Haylee Hartman (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro).
Clatterbuck led the Rams with a pair of hits.
Liana Morreale had the only hit for the Panthers when she had a bunt single in the first.
Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (7.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 12 K, 2 BB) (2-0) tossed a complete game one-hitter to pick up the win. Emma Grau (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 7 K, 3 BB) (2-4) took the loss.
Findlay used an eight-hit attack en route to the nightcap win.
The Oilers scored three runs in the first and did not trail in the contest.

Cate Russian (Manassas, Va./Colgan) walked and freshman outfielder
Payton Weaver (Fairplay, Md./Williamsport) followed with a single. Russian scored on a single by senior third baseman
Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Trevecca Nazarene) and Weaver scored on a ground out by Clatterbuck.
Annika Brendel went 2-for-2, scored twice, and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Oilers.
Weaver went 2-for-2 to pace the Rams.
Kayla Dykin (7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 8 K, 3 BB) (3-0) earned the win. Sophomore pitcher
Trynda Mantz (Edinburg, Va./Central) (2.0 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 1 K, 4 BB) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they face Glenville State at 10 a.m. and Indianapolis at 12:15 p.m. at The Spring Games.
