SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (17-16-1, 13-8-1 PSAC East) split with Bloomsburg (19-13, 9-9 PSAC East) in PSAC East softball doubleheader action on Senior Day at Sara Cree Field on Sunday. Shepherd posted a 1-0 win in game one, while Bloomsburg earned the split with a 4-0 triumph in the nightcap. Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) fanned 11 in the opener to tie the Shepherd all-time strikeout mark of 443 strikeouts. She shares the mark with former Shepherd All-American Nichole Pitcock (2008-11).

Haylee Hartman (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) both walked to load the bases. Senior shortstop
Lexi Clatterbuck (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) drew a walk to plate Ruffner.
Ruffner went 2-for-3 to lead the Rams.
Ruffner (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 11 K, 3 BB) (13-1) tossed a two-hit shutout to get the win. Kelly Eberly (5.0 IP, 1 ER, 3 K, 7 BB) (3-6) took the loss.
Bloomsburg took a 3-0 lead in the first in the nightcap with an RBI-double from Sarah Yamrick and an RBI-single by Mia Nemeth highlighting the rally.
The Huskies added an insurance run in the seventh at Emma Little doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Josie Straigis.
Yamrick and Little each had a pair of hits to pace the Huskies.
Callie Sowers (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 7 K, 2 BB) (10-4) earned the win. Freshman pitcher
Sam Colaw (Petersburg, W.Va./Petersburg) (6.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB) (3-10) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Frostburg State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
