FROSTBURG, Md. – Shepherd University (16-17) dropped a 6-3 decision to Frostburg State (23-8) in non-conference baseball action at Frostburg State on Wednesday.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI-single by Mikey Guy.
Frostburg took a 2-0 lead in the second on an RBI-single from Randy Steen.
Four different Frostburg players had RBI-singles in the fourth to up the lead to 6-0.
Shepherd got on the board in the seventh on a two-run blast by junior outfielder
Nik Rubendall (East Norriton, Pa/Pope John Paul II).
The Rams added a run in the eighth when redshirt sophomore outfielder
Ethan Jones (Oakton, Va./Oakton) walked and later scored when senior first baseman
Aidan Greaney (New Windsor, Md./ South Carroll /Frederick Community College) reached on an error.
Jones went 1-for-3 with a double to lead the Rams.
Joey Pippin (6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB) (4-1) earned the win. Senior pitcher
Trevor Sharp (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) (2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 K, 2 BB) took the loss (0-5).
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host West Chester for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
