QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – Shepherd University (28-22-1) split a pair of games in 2025 PSAC Softball Tournament action at Veterans Field on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 3-0 victory over #11 East Stroudsburg in the early game, but East Stroudsburg (46-10-1) recorded a 10-2 win in the championship game.
Shepherd took a 2-0 lead in the second inning in the early game behind RBI-singles from senior shortstop
Lexi Clatterbuck (Front Royal, Va./Skyline) and junior catcher
Camdyn Noland (Summit Point, W.Va./Washington).
Senior third baseman
Lauren Moore (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora/Trevecca Nazarene) blasted a solo homer in the third to up the lead to 3-0.
Moore and Clatterbuck each had a pair of hits to lead the Rams.
Sophomore pitcher
Madelayne Ruffner (7.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 9 K, 1 BB) (20-3) picked up the win. Sarah Davenport (7.0 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 3 K, 1BB) (30-3) took the loss.
East Stroudsburg took a 2-0 lead in the first inning in the championship game on an RBI-single by Delaney Ridgell and a sacrifice fly by Kinsley Proepper.
Shepherd tied the game in the third as freshman outfielder
Haylee Hartman (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) singled and Moore followed with a two-run blast.
The Warriors took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third behind RBI-singles from Katie Master and Proepper.
East Stroudsburg plated five runs in the fourth to take a 9-2 advantage with a two-run single by Proepper keying the scoring.
The Warriors added a run in the sixth on an RBI-double by Shannon Edelman to complete the scoring.
Clatterbuck went 3-for-3 to lead the Rams. Sophomore first baseman
Brenna Collis (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) added a pair of hits.
Tulana Mingin and Proepper each had three hits for the Warriors.
Abbie Landrum (3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 K, 1 BB) (7-1) gained the win. Freshman pitcher
Sam Colaw (Petersburg, W.Va./Petersburg) (5.0 IP, 12 H, 10 R, 7 ER, 1 K, 2 BB) (6-14) took the loss.
The Rams will await word on seeding for the upcoming NCAA II Regional action. The selection show will take place on Monday morning with regional play slated to begin on Thursday, May 8.
Notes: Moore (12) broke the Shepherd single-season home run mark of 11 held by Cameron Davis (2021, 2022) … Moore's 51 runs batted in also broke the previous Shepherd season mark of 49 set by Cameron Davis in 2021 … Moore (127) also broke the Shepherd total bases mark of 119 set by Purtell in 2023.
