SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (1-2-0) recorded a 3-0 victory over Lock Haven (1-1-1) in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday.
Junior midfielder Josue Guzman (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) scored on an assist for sophomore forward Joshua Petty (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll/Queens University of Charlotte) at the 3:24 mark to give Shepherd a 1-0 advantage.
The Rams took a 2-0 lead into the break as junior forward/midfielder Mac Long (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/Hagerstown Community College) scored an unassisted goal at the 25:48 mark.
The Rams capped the scoring at 3-0 with an unassisted tally by Petty at the 85:01 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper Aidan Houck (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) posted five saves in a shutout effort for the Rams. Ethan Beck recorded five saves for Lock Haven.
Shepherd had a 14-13 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. The Rams had a 2-1 advantage on corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Chestnut Hill for a 2:30 pm match.
