The Shepherd University volleyball team got a pair of wins at the UC-WVSU Crossover at West Virginia State on
Saturday
. The Rams (6-1) took a 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 win over Glenville State (5-3) in the early match and added a 31-29, 27-25, 25-22 win against Charleston (5-3) in the later match.
Junior middle hitter/right side
Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) had 12 kills and freshman outside hitter
Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) added 11 to lead the Rams against the Pioneers.
Junior middle hitter
Rylee Lenz (Earleville, Md./Bohemia Manor) added five blocks, while senior libero/defensive specialist
Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty) had 13 digs.
Senior setter
Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) recorded a match-high 42 assists.
Cali Queen had eight kills to lead the Pioneers.
Junior outside hitter
Amya Davis (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson), Ryan, and McCoy each had eight kills to pace the Rams in the win over Charleston. Ryan added seven blocks (five solos).
Faircloth had 12 digs, while Buso contributed 22 assists and nine digs.
Patricia Majos had 14 kills to lead Charleston.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to IUP to face Elizabeth City State at 9 a.m. and Pitt-Johnstown at 7 p.m.
