INDIANA, Pa. – The Shepherd University volleyball team recorded a pair of wins at the Crimson Hawk Classic at Indiana (Pa.) on Friday. The Rams (8-1) took a 25-22, 25-11, 25-23 win over Elizabeth City State (0-5) in the early match and added a 25-15, 26-24, 25-19 win against Pitt-Johnstown (5-3) in the later match. The Rams increased their win streak to six matches.
Freshman outside hitter Ada McCoy (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) recorded nine kills and junior middle hitter/right side Sophia Ryan (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) added seven to lead the Rams against Elizabeth City State. Ryan added five blocks,
Senior libero/defensive specialist Madigan Faircloth (Inwood, W.Va./Musselman/Liberty) had a match-high 16 digs to lead the Rams. Senior setter Macy Buso (Parker, Colorado/Chaparral) recorded a match-high 25 assists.
Kendall Washington had nine kills, and Serenity Lunnermon posted 10 assists to lead the Vikings.
Ryan and McCoy each had 10 kills to pace the Rams in the win over Pitt-Johnstown. Ryan added at match-best six blocks.
Faircloth had a match-high 19 digs, while Buso contributed 28 assists.
Abby Berry had 21 assists to lead Pitt-Johnstown.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face Charleston at 11:00 a.m. and Indiana (Pa) at 7 p.m. for final-day action of the Crimson Hawk Classic.
