MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (8-3) recoded a 9-4 victory over Fairmont State (2-4) in baseball action at Mylan Park on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd took advantage of two-run singles from junior outfielder Bodie Pullen (Winchester, Va./James Wood) and redshirt sophomore Infielder Ryan Fluharty (Burton, W.Va./Morgantown/USC Upstate) to take a 2-0 advantage.
Fairmont State took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third with a two-run single from Kris Sutton highlighting the rally.
The Rams plated two in the fifth when Pullen singled and scored on a wild pitch and Fluharty walked and later scored on a fielder's choice.
The Falcons tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth when Maddox Johnston walked and scored on a single from Drew Emrich.
Shepherd scored five runs in the ninth to gain the 9-4 triumph. Fluharty and senior catcher Austin Sofran (Swedesboro, N.J./St. Augustine Prep) each had two-run singles to highlight the inning.
Pullen went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI to pace the Rams.
Sutton went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Fairmont State.
Freshman pitcher Logan Bower (Winchester, Va./James Wood) (3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 K, 2 BB) (1-0) earned the win. Conner Tingler (4.0 IP, 5 5 0 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) (0-1) took the loss.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they face California University (Pa.) at 2:30 p.m.
