SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (6-9, 1-2 PSAC East) split a doubleheader with #25 East Stroudsburg (10-3, 1-3 PSAC East) in softball action at Sara Cree Field on Saturday. East Stroudsburg gained a 4-2 win in game one, while Shepherd earned a 3-1 triumph in the nightcap.
East Stroudsburg took a 2-0 lead in the first inning in game one on a two-run homer from Kinsley Proepper.
After East Stroudsburg scored a run in the fifth, Shepherd answered back in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run triple from sophomore outfielder
Haylee Hartman (Keedysville, Md./Boonsboro) to cut the lead to 3-2.
The Warriors go a solo homer from Gigi DeMito in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Proepper and DeMito each had a pair of hits for East Stroudsburg.
Sarah Davenport (7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 14 K, 3 BB) (7-4) earned the win for East Stroudsburg. Senior pitcher

East Stroudsburg's lone run came in the fourth as Proepper led off with a single and later scored from third on a passed ball.

The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host Shippensburg for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
