BLOOMSBURG, Pa. –  Shepherd University (8-1, 4-0 PSAC East) swept Bloomsburg (1-3, 1-3 PSAC East) in PSAC softball doubleheader action at Bloomsburg on Friday. The Rams gained an 11-2 win in six innings in game one and added a 4-0 victory in the nightcap. 
The Rams used a 16-hit attack en route to the game one win. 
Senior shortstop Ashley Burger (Hedgesville, W.Va./Spring Mills) went 4-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored while junior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) went 2-for-3 with three RBI and four runs scored to pace the Rams. Purtell had a three-run homer and a double. 
Sophomore designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke), sophomore outfielder Kylie Condon (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington), and sophomore outfielder Hannah Beeler (Greencastle, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim) also added two hits apiece. 
Junior pitcher Sarah Lamper (Marshall, Va./Fauquier) (6.0 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 4 Ks, 3 BB) (3-0) gained the win for the Rams. Abby Wild (3.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 K, 2 BB) (1-1) took the loss for the Huskies. 
The Rams took a 2-0 lead in second in the nightcap. Junior first baseman Tori Seymour (Winchester, Va./Sherando) led off with a double and Forte followed with a single. Seymour scored on a ground out by sophomore catcher Alex Mantz (Edinburg, Va./Central) and Forte scored when senior outfielder Allison Baker (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) reached on a throwing error. 
Shepherd added a pair of runs in the fourth. Seymour reached on a walk and was replaced by freshman pinch-runner Chloee Burton (Maurertown, Va./Central). Mantz reached on an error and was replaced by freshman pinch-runner Sophia Pell (Winchester, Va./Millbrook). Burton scored when she stole home on a double-steal with Pell. Pell later scored on a single off the bat of Baker. 
Freshman outfielder Isabella Forte (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and Purtell both went 2-for-3 to lead the Rams. 
Sophomore pitcher Katie Laing (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) (7.0 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 2 K, 0 BB) (3-0) earned the win. Tara Baney (7.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 4 BB) (0-2) took the loss for Bloomsburg. 
The two teams return to action on Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Sara Cree Field.
