SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Shepherd University (10-1, 6-0 PSAC East) swept Bloomsburg (1-5, 1-5 PSAC East) in PSAC softball doubleheader action at Sara Cree Field on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 9-1 win in six innings in game one and added a 6-2 triumph in the nightcap. Shepherd upped its winning streak to eight games with the victories. 
The Rams took control of game one with six runs on two hits and three Bloomsburg errors in the second inning. Senior outfielder Allison Baker (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford), junior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville), senior second baseman Leann Brown (Hume, Va./Fauquier), and sophomore designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke) each drove in a run. 
Shepherd added a run in the fourth as Purtell walked and later scored on a single by senior shortstop Ashley Burger (Hedgesville, W.Va./Spring Mills) 
The Huskies scored a run in the fifth behind an RBI-single by Sammi Starr. 
Shepherd took an 8-1 advantage in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI-single by Baker. 
The Rams completed the scoring in the sixth as Brown led off with a single and scored on a double off the bat of Davis to gain the early win due to the eight-run rule. 
Baker went 3-for-3 to pace the Rams. 
Senior pitcher Cheyenne Van Pelt (South Riding, Va./Freedom) (6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 Ks, 3 BB) (2-1) earned the win. Tara Baney (5.0 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 1 ER, 2 Ks, 2 BB) (0-3) took the loss for Bloomsburg. 
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead in the third inning in the nightcap as Purtell singled and advanced to third on an error. She scored on a single off the bat of Brown. 
The Rams added three runs in the fourth with an RBI-triple by freshman outfielder Isabella Forte (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and an RBI-double by Baker keying the rally. 
Shepherd tacked on two more runs in the fifth. Sophomore outfielder Kylie Condon (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) singled and later scored on an error. Forte added an RBI-single. 
Bloomsburg got on the board in the seventh on a two-run blast by Starr. 
Forte and Purtell each had a pair of hits for the Rams. 
Starr went 2-for-3 to pace the Huskies. 
Freshman pitcher Hannah Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 4 Ks, 1 BB) (2-0) gained the win for the Rams. Abby Wild (5.0 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 K, 2 BB) (1-2) took the loss for the Huskies. 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mansfield for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
