MANSFIELD, Pa. –  Shepherd University (16-5, 12-4 PSAC East) split a pair of games with Mansfield (2-8, 2-8 PSAC East) in PSAC softball doubleheader action at Mansfield on Tuesday. The Rams posted a 10-2 victory in five innings in game one and dropped a 5-2 decision in the nightcap.  
The Mountaineers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning in game one behind and RBI-double by Joelle Snyder and an RBI-single by Meghan McGinley. 
Shepherd took a 3-2 lead in the third with a trio of runs. Senior shortstop Ashley Burger (Hedgesville, W.Va./Spring Mills), sophomore outfielder Kylie Condon (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington), and freshman catcher Olivia Reese (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) each drove in a run for the Rams. 
The Rams added three more runs in the fourth behind RBI-doubles by sophomore designated player Cameron Davis (Ayden, N.C./South Central/UNC Pembroke) and junior first baseman Tori Seymour (Winchester, Va./Sherando) and an RBI-ground out by Burger. 
Condon smacked a two-run single to key a four-run fifth for the Rams. 
Senior second baseman Leann Brown (Hume, Va./Fauquier), Davis, and Seymour each had a pair of hits to pace an 11-hit attack for Shepherd. 
Freshman pitcher Hannah Ruffner (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER,  5 K, 5 BB) (5-0) gained the win for the Rams. Alexis Easling (4.2 IP, 10 H, 10 R, 8 ER, 2 K, 6 BB) (0-5) took the loss for the Mounties. 
Mansfield took a 2-0 lead in the first in the nightcap on a two-run single by McGinley. 
Shepherd got a run in the fourth when junior third baseman Nicole Purtell (Centreville, Va./Centreville) singled, stole second and third, and later scored on a ground out by Davis. 
The Rams tied the game in the fifth as Reese singled, stole second and third, and scored on a throwing error by the catcher. 
Danielle Goff hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Mounties to the win. 
Goff  (7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 0 BB) (2-3) earned the win for Mansfield. Sophomore pitcher Ashley Mayton (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) (6.0 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 3 K, 1 BB) (0-1) took the loss. 
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host West Chester for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
